Projxsoft Access Speed Analyser
This page tests your connection to our servers to check that a web demonstration will
be viable, and that using our hosted service will give you a usable speed.

Your approximate connection speed
is
x
kilobits per second
|
The Speed You Need
Required speed depends on how much you need to use Work.Together over
the Internet, and what you will be doing.
We would recommend at least 200 kilobits per second, but regular
users uploading and downloading large documents will need more than this.
Dial-up users with a 50 kilobits per second connection will find
the link satisfactory for a limited number of operations, but handling
documents bigger than around 100k will get tedious.
Sample speeds from some users (kilobits per second):
- A London Borough - 650
- A Home Counties authority - 211-617
- Local authority in N.E.England - 443
- Small local office (ADSL connection) - 470
- Dial up (56k connection) - 50
Speed Information
There are lots of links in the chain between server and your screen each
of which has an impact on your access speed, and some of which will vary
depending on time of day, etc.. The most common bottlenecks are highlighted:
- Your browser - The program accessing the Internet needs to process
the data, storing some of it on disc
- Other software - Local programs like ad blockers and virus scanners
process it first
- Operating system - Your operating system may not be optimized by default
- Hardware - Your modem or (less likely) network connection may impose
some speed constraints
- LAN - If you are on a LAN (typical in offices), other users share
the connection
- Firewall - Your organisation's firewall may have an impact on speed
- Your organisation's Internet connection - The capacity of the line
to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is important, as is the number
of users using it at any time
- Cable or ADSL users share their connection to their ISP
- Your ISP - The quality and capacity of your ISP's equipment
- Router to router - Your data gets passed from router to router; how
many will have an impact on speed
- The end connection - Our servers have an Internet connection and it
too can get clogged with traffic
- The server - This has the same speed factors like OS, LAN, and hardware
